December 5-9

“December's wintery breath is already clouding the pond, frosting the pane, obscuring summer's memory...”
― John Geddes
We enjoyed this beautiful, snowy day despite late buses and indoor recess. Students worked hard in math class this morning.  They cut out a set of rulers to use for a measurement activity.  We worked on measuring line segments to the nearest half inch and centimeter.  Other lessons this week include generating measurement data and representing the data on a line plot, measuring distances around objects to the nearest 1/2 inch and reviewing characteristics of polygons. Students will have a Home Link each night for homework.
Our spelling rule involves Contractions this week.  Students will have a one sided assignment Monday through Wednesday.  Please help your child study for his or her test on Thursday evening.
We will study the Native Americans of the Plains this week.  Students will be introduced to new vocabulary and fun activities surrounding this theme.
We will do an Inquiry Task this week.  We will practice using the Scientific Method to hypothesize, collect data, answer questions, find results and make conclusions.
We have an Early Release on Wednesday.
Have a wonderful week!  :)
