November 26-30

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."

We began the week with poetry, a writing prompt and reading comprehension questions. Students worked hard to produce quality written responses. We will finish our work with Bat Loves the Night tomorrow.

Students will take the Lesson 8 spelling pretest tomorrow morning. Please expect homework each night this week. The test will be given on the following Tuesday, December 4th.

We will finish Unit 3 in math this week. Please see your child's Home Link each night for our daily Learning Objective. We will review for the test on Friday. The assessment will be given on Monday, the 3rd. We will begin Unit 4 the following day.

We will study the Native Americans of the Plains this week. Students will continue to recognize how the lives of the People were affected by the land, climate and ecosystem that they lived in.

We will see a TIGER program on Wednesday afternoon. This assembly for third and fourth graders will focus on building a kind community.

Have a wonderful week! :)

November 19th & 20th

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! :)

November 13-16

"November comes
      And November goes,
      With the last red berries
      And the first white snows.
With night coming early,
      And dawn coming late,
      And ice in the bucket
      And frost by the gate.
The fires burn
      And the kettles sing,
      And earth sinks to rest
      Until next spring."

We began our week with a writing prompt and reading activity. Students read and analyzed text. They used evidence from the story to support their written answers. I'm very proud of how far students have come in regard to responding to literature using text evidence.

Students took the spelling pretest for Unit 6 on Tuesday. They will have a spelling assignment due each day this week. The test will be given next Tuesday, November 20th.

We will continue with Unit 3 in math this week. Please see your child's Home Link each night for our daily Learning Objective.

We will discuss the characteristics of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores this week as well as their role in the ecosystem. We will continue to study producers, consumers and decomposers too. Students will learn more about the Native Americans who lived in each region of the United States and how the climate and environment affected their existence.

Have a lovely week! :)

We will continue with Unit 3 in math this week. Students will have homework on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Please look for the daily Learning Objective on each Home Link.
