October 17-21

“October had tremendous possibility. The summer's oppressive heat was a distant memory, and the golden leaves promised a world full of beautiful adventures. They made me believe in miracles.”
― Sarah GuilloryReclaimed

We began our week by creating mathematical representations for solving division problems.  Students used pictures, diagrams, number models and units to find answers to challenging word problems. Tomorrow we will play Hot Potato to practice our multiplication facts.  Please ask your child about this fun, cooperative game.  Other math lessons this week include solving division number stories with remainders and exploring even and odd number patterns.  Students will have a Home Link each night.

Our spelling words this week are a review of all the words from Lessons 1-5.  Students will have a one-sided spelling assignment each night for homework.  25 words can feel daunting for students so please let me know if your child is struggling with homework or studying for the test.

We began reading Food Chain Frenzy this week.  This chapter book is a great introduction to our Biome and Life Science Units.

Scholastic book orders are due on October 27th.

Thank you and have a fantastic week!  :)
