"Let us love winter, for it is the spring of genius."
-  Pietro Aretino

We began our week with an awesome Techsploration on Simple Machines. Students learned about inclined planes, wedges, levers, screws, wheels and axles and pulleys. Fiona and Bella were both called up to volunteer which was really fun to watch.

Students loved participating in Harry Potter Yoga this morning with Ms. Karen. They practiced calming poses while also working on strength and coordination. Cosmic Kids Yoga is very engaging and motivating to our class.

Our Anchor Text this week is a Cherokee Legend titled Yonder Mountain. Students really seemed to enjoy the story and were surprised by the ending. We will work on vocabulary, phonics and comprehension throughout the week.

The spelling test will be given on Thursday afternoon. Students have three more assignments due before then.

We played Baseball Multiplication in class today. The kids loved it! Other lessons this week include using square products to solve near problems and practicing multiplication automaticity. Students will have a Home Link on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. No homework on Thursday night.

I'm so excited for our Ellis Island simulation on Thursday. Thank you to parents for volunteering and offering to send in supplies. Those who are volunteering should meet in the cafeteria at 8:45 that morning. Our class is expected to arrive at Ellis Island around 9:15am. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Have a wonderful week! :)
